Watercolor on Paper

I don't have a lot to say about this, except that I got some new watercolors, and that the teal and some of the other colors are shimmery in person. Also I really like how this came out.

Automatic Art: Mulitcolor Rorschachs

I made these with acrylics on 8x11 paper. I really like how the paint dried; it left these strange ridges in a web-ish pattern at the places where there was enough paint for it to act to make the paper sticky as I unfolded it. I hope that explanation made sense. Anyway, here are the rest:

Oil On Paper

Here's another medium I'd never done before. It only took me about ten minutes to realize the first problem with oil paints that I hadn't foreseen: you can't wash it out of your brushes with just water. Luckily I'd left my good brushes in Victoria (I'm taking the ferry back tomorrow.) However after some trial-and-error, and painting my hands green, I figured out that normal soap works just fine. It took me a while to notice the second problem: the take weeks to dry. Which means when I close my (new) sketchbook and put it in my bag tomorrow, the painting will end up at least partially on the back of another sheet. That's not such a big deal, but I kind of like this painting. By the way, that's not all brushwork, I used my hands and one of those dental tools that looks like a little gaff too.
